Our Programs
Niños—Comunidad (NiCo)
Located in La Paz, Niños—Comunidad (NiCo) is a community-based promise to vulnerable families. Local leaders walk with children from preschool through 6th grade, providing academic reinforcement, nutritional support, and spiritual discipleship. And the work doesn’t stop at the classroom door; NiCo partners with parents to create safe, nurturing homes, ensuring that poverty does not dictate a child’s future.
Graduate Program
Transitioning to adulthood is challenging, especially for those leaving the protection system. The Graduate Program in San Pedro Sula and Tegucigalpa bridges the gap, offering mentorship, scholarships, life-skills training, and spiritual guidance. Local leaders are committed to walking this road until graduates are confident, self-sufficient men and women who contribute meaningfully to their communities.
Foster Care Support
When a child cannot remain at home, they still deserve the love of a family. In partnership with the Honduran government (SENAF), Orphan Outreach Honduras recruits, trains, and supports foster families who open their hearts and homes. These families are accompanied every step of the way, ensuring that every child finds safety, belonging, and the healing that comes from unconditional care.
Coaching for Decision-Makers
The Honduras leadership team comes alongside institutions throughout the country to raise the bar for child protection with Coaching for Decision-Makers. The team bridges critical gaps in professional training, strategic planning, and rights-based care. By empowering organizations with practical tools and mentorship, better outcomes and brighter futures are ensured for the children they serve.
Why It Matters
Enter High School
Fewer than half of all Honduran students complete 6th grade, and enrollment drops below 40% at the high school level.
Face Hunger Crisis
Widespread food insecurity directly impacts children’s ability to learn and develop. A child born in Honduras today will be only 48% as productive in adulthood as they could be with complete education and full health.
Girls Left Behind
Violence keeps nearly a quarter of adolescent girls out of school, early marriage affects 34% of young women, and when families face economic hardship, girls are withdrawn first—with 70% of rural girls ultimately not receiving their high school diplomas.
Keeps Kids Out of School
The cost of education—including fees, uniforms, and transportation—prevents many rural families from enrolling their children in classes. 49.8% of the Honduran population is below the poverty line, with 20% of all rural families facing extreme poverty. 19% of teens and young adults 15-24 ended their educational journey in elementary school.

In Honduras, our local team invests in three programs that walk alongside children, young adults, and families, focusing on education, physical wellbeing, social-emotional growth, and spiritual support. We also work directly with other nonprofits to ensure quality of care is provided throughout the country.
